Rhododendron calendulaceum is the Southern Native Azalea known as the Flame Azalea. Deciduous. Golden blooms.

Found growing in the wild along the Georgia and South Carolina border.

Native to the southern Appalachian mountains of Georgia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas.

Blooms: Non-fragrant flowers can be any shade of soft yellow to brilliant red.

Mature size: 6-12 feet.

Hardiness: USDA Zones 6b - 9a. 

Site: Prefers filtered sun beneath pines or hardwoods.
